In the small, picturesque village of Nikoklia one can admire the
unique old hostel that has been converted into a small hotel unit.
This manor preserves its old traditional architecture and also several
tools and objects, which were used by the village's former inhabitants.
The community's old church, dedicated to St. Demetrius
and situated near the Diarizos river, is an 18th century structure.
It is made out of local stone. The temple's new icon screen -made
out of carved wood -is noteworthy.
A visit to the village's old water mill and old
fountain will take you back to the old years when the inhabitants
of the surrounding villages came here to grind their wheat.
In the small, graphic plaza placed at the centre
of the village, you can relax in the 3 little coffee-houses that
operate for several years now. The hospitality, which the village's
inhabitants will unsparingly offer, shall forever remain engraved
in your memory.
A journey down the Diarizos river will give you
the chance to admire the unique nature of Cyprus, observing the
various birds and reptiles. The whole landscape becomes even more
beautiful with the various trees placed at the river's banks.
The
surrounding mountains and the colour of the sky provide an enchanting
view to the whole scenery that you will find hard to forget.
